However, subsidies for coal plants still pose a challenge, making coal-generated electricity a more cost-effective option for utility companies. Future policy changes, such as incentives for clean energy storage in the upcoming national budget, could level the playing field and drive further growth in the sector.

Energy experts emphasize the need for India to ramp up its renewable energy deployment to meet the surging demand for electricity. As battery costs continue to decline, energy storage systems are becoming increasingly competitive with traditional energy sources like coal, hydropower, and nuclear energy.
